After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the International Biathlon Union has already committed to helping the Ukrainian biathlon family by providing financial, logistical and sports-technical assistance to the athletes and the federation.
However, in this acute phase of the crisis, one of the fastest and most effective ways to help the people of Ukraine is through organizations working on the ground. You can join IBU in supporting the people of Ukraine now. There are two ways to actively contribute right now:
- Join the Biathlon For Ukraine Team on the Active Giving App. Download the App (which was already partner in the Biathlon Climate Challenge last spring), join the IBU Team with the code “IBUUKR” and register your workouts to collect points which will be converted into donations to the Austrian Red Cross.
- Directly donate to the Red Cross by using this link. Donations up to 20.000€ will be matched 1:1 by the IBU. The IBU’s matched donations will go to a local foundation called “Health of the Ukrainian people” that specializes in providing medicine and medical services to those impacted in Ukraine.
This fundraising campaigns will be open until the last day of the World Cup finals in Oslo-Holmenkollen on 20 March 2022. The IBU strongly condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the continued aggression supported by Belarus. It expresses its deepest sympathies for all those affected, in particular, the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine whose members have joined the fight for their country. Ukraine is a nation with great biathlon traditions and the IBU stands in solidarity with them. The IBU sincerely hopes a peaceful resolution will be found to end the current war and suffering as soon as possible.
